FAQs

  • As moms ourselves, we understand that navigating the world of our child’s education can be confusing and overwhelming. With our many years of experience working in education, we know the intricacies of the school system and how your child can achieve success. As educational consultants, we will assess where your child is at and ascertain what their needs are. Then, we will explore what is already in place to help your child, and create an action plan for additional supports for home and school.

  • After careful consideration of your child’s learning profile and needs, we will create a customized action plan for them that will outline all the necessary supports for home and school. The supports may help your child with skills like attention and organization, or with academic achievement. The type of supports vary greatly and they depend on the needs your child. We will be happy to outline and explain the supports we feel would best benefit your child.

  • A psychoeducational assessment is frequently suggested by your child’s school when the teachers have had concerns about your child’s achievement over a significant amount of time. The psychoeducational assessment is usually done by a licensed psychologist. During this process, your child will meet with the psychologist a few times to undergo a variety of evaluations and then a report will be written for you. The assessment looks at not only your child’s achievement in academic subjects (reading, writing, math) as compared to their peers, but it also gives important information about your child’s cognitive profile. The psychologist will also diagnose any learning disabilities or other issues at this time. As consultants, we use this information when building an action plan for your child and when evaluating if their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meets their needs.

  • An Individual Education Plan (IEP) is a support plan that is put in place by your child’s school. It is often written following a psychoeducational assessment and/or when your child is struggling to meet the grade level expectations. An IEP is a legal document that you should receive a copy of each year. It should outline your child’s needs and supports that your child is entitled to receive. These supports may be accommodations or modifications. As consultants, we will explain the IEP process and support you with the development and implementations of your child’s IEP.

  • As educational consultants, we are proud to have a network of trusted professionals who we can refer you to should your child require additional support. This can include psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, social workers, behaviour therapists, and tutors.
